To the east of Monte Carlo, located along the avenue Princess Grace, Larvotto is one of the most luxurious districts of Monaco. Along the French border and bordering Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, this district has an exceptional geographical location and is bordered by pleasant beaches.
Alongside luxury hotels such as the Monte Carlo Bay or the Meridien, many high-class properties are built facing the Mediterranean in this residential area, which is prized by Monegasques for its postcard-like landscape!
The Larvotto district: luxury and pleasure on every floor!
The Larvotto district is located in the eastern part of Monaco, on the Mediterranean coast. On a former railroad track, this area was built by the Principality in the 1960s.
The big luxury hotels have taken up residence in this new tourist eden composed of artificial beaches and prestigious real estate constructions such as the 21 Princess Grace, the Houston Palace, the Palais de la Mer and the Columbia.
On the large seawalls, restaurants and private beaches now reign alongside the Principality's now iconic establishments such as the Monte Carlo Bay and its turquoise lagoon in the extension of the Mediterranean.
The must-see places in the area
The Larvotto beach
On 400 meters below the promenade, the Larvotto beach is formed by 2 twin coves. On this beach, there are many activities, such as the children's garden in the shade of the umbrella pines. The string of restaurants along the beach allow you to relax between two swims.
Surrounded by skyscrapers, Monaco's only beach is certainly one of the most beautiful on the French Riviera and has just been redesigned.
The Larvotto beach complex, modernized by the Italian architect Renzo Piano, is now planted with more than 130 trees and a bicycle path has been installed.
At the heart of this new public space, there are services such as a children's crèche, a gym, a handiplage area and the Ecole de l'Eau.
The Larvotto underwater reserve in Monte Carlo
Created in 1976, the Larvotto underwater reserve covers 14 hectares dedicated to the preservation of the fauna and flora of the underwater environment. From the Larvotto beach, it is possible to observe numerous aquatic species such as barracudas, sea breams, mullets or even Mediterranean wolves. Fishing and mooring of motor boats are totally forbidden in this biodiversity protection area.
The Grimaldi Forum of Monaco
Monaco's congress center and international cultural center was inaugurated in early 2000. Nearly 70,000 square meters make up this giant of glass and steel built under the impetus of Prince Rainier III, with the aim of making Monaco one of the most prestigious destinations for business tourism in Europe.
Every year, more than a hundred events, seminars, congresses, concerts or exhibitions are organized in the heart of the Grimaldi Forum, welcoming nearly 250,000 visitors per year.
Anse du Portier becomes Mareterra, a new urbanization project
Adjacent to the Larvotto beach, the Anse du Portier district, which becomes Mareterra, is the Principality's new urbanization project and will become Monaco's eleventh and last neighborhood.
Built on an extension in the sea, this colossal project aims to transform Monaco's residential landscape with its construction, the most ambitious in Europe and the most avant-garde in Monaco.
More than 60,000 square meters of luxury housing will be installed and every element of the project has been thought out and designed to respect the environment.
Mareterra, which will extend the Grimaldi Forum, is the first sustainable redevelopment project in Monaco and will offer, at the heart of its exclusively pedestrian area, a one-hectare public park, an underground parking lot, office and residential buildings, as well as a marina with some 30 moorings.
